Anthropology Student Organization: Minorities in Anthropology
Minorities in Anthropology (MIA) is a group of UCSC anthropology students whose mission is to create a collaborative and supportive community that helps underrepresented students add their voices to Anthropology and encourage them during their studies. MIA strives to create academic initiatives for self-representation through the different branches of Anthropology and other disciplines. Their purpose is to facilitate the participation of minority and underrepresented groups within the Anthropology Department as well as to build community, provide a space for networking and academic exchange, and discuss their perspectives and experiences within the discipline.
This year, MIA hosted a program event for Anthro Day on Feb 17, 2022. Student presentations from the event can be found on their website.
