Obtaining Health Insurance
Graduate Student Health Insurance Policy (GSHIP)
Full-Time Students
All full-time graduate students are automatically enrolled in the university sponsored Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan (GSHIP) unless they choose to submit an insurance waiver with proof of comparable coverage.
GSHIP features year-round, world-wide coverage using the Blue Cross network, and includes prepaid access to care at the CSC Student Health Center for illness or injury.
The UCSC Student Health Center and UCSC health care providers are not contracted with any insurance companies. Most HMOs and PPOs, including Kaiser, PacifiCare, and Healthnet, will NOT cover care provided on-campus at the Student Health Center.
The Spring payment covers both Spring and Summer quarters.
GSHIP fees are covered by university academic employment.
