Research Interests

My work examines the history and present-day operations of the phosphate fertilizer industry in Central Florida. Phosphates, derived from phosphate rock, are an essential element of global food production.

This study seeks to understand the Central Florida phosphate fertilizer industry by way of the following components: 1) innovations in mining and fertilizer production; 2) phosphate fertilizer supply chains; 3) policies at local, state, and federal levels that affect the industry; and 4) reclamation practices used to rehabilitate impacted lands.
