    Kristen Cheney, Ph.D. 2004, Publishes Book

    Kristen Cheney, a 2004 Ph.D. recipient from the Department of Anthropology, has published a new book entitled Crying For Our Elders, regarding crucial aspects of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa and how this crisis has been read - and misread - by humanitarian organizations. Cheney is currently an associate professor of children and youth studies at the International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands.

    Chelsey Juarez, Ph.D. 2011, Featured for Volunteering with Sheriff

    Chelsey Juarez, Ph.D. 2011, made the Charlotte Observer for her contributions to the Wake County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina.  Dr. Juarez is currently an Assistant Professor at North Carolina State University.  Beyond her career in academia, Dr. Juarez volunteers her time and expertise in forensic anthropology to help law enforcement solve crimes.
