Anthropology Undergraduate Graduation Reception
Join Us in Celebrating the Anthropology Graduating Class of 2016!
Please join the Anthropology Department for our annual reception for graduating seniors on Friday, June 10th, 2016 from 9am-12pm at the UCSC Arboretum. The awards ceremony will start at 9:30am.
It is our custom to award medallions (provided through gifts from generous donors) to our graduating seniors at the reception. We encourage students to wear the medallions with their regalia to proudly identify themselves as anthropology majors during college commencement. Students may pick-up their medallions at the podium prior to the start of the awards ceremony.
Students who registered after the May 6 deadline won't have their medallion personalized. Students must register by Friday, June 3 to be included when the names of graduates are announced at the reception.
We hope to see you there!
The reception will be held in the Australian Garden section of the Arboretum [Arboretum Grounds Map]. There is no admission fee for guests attending the anthropology reception. There will be light refereshments and coffee available.

This is a casual event, so caps and gowns are not necessary. The venue is an outdoor space and somewhat rustic. Please wear comfortable shoes (we recommend avoiding heels to traverse the rough terrain) and wear layered clothing. Foggy mornings can be quite chilly, but it can get warm when the fog burns off. Unfortunately, there is not much shade, so hats or umbrellas may best protect against direct sunlight.
Limited parking is available on the Arboretum grounds. We ask that only one vehicle per graduating student parks on the Arboretum grounds. No permit is required for parking at the Arboretum.
***Please note that all official graduation commencement ceremonies for undergraduate students are offered through the Colleges – students interested in participating in the commencement ceremonies should inquire at their College Office.***
